Often health, behavioral or social challenges make it hard for our persons served to meet commitments and they require flexibility for motivation and success. Staff promotes the belief that every individual is a productive and contributing member of society. They work hard to match activities with individuals served goals to maximize success and independence. LMSCL offers a continuum of community supports throughout the Vancouver and BC’s Lower Mainland. This includes community involvement, social and recreation and life skills development. Participants have opportunities to choose from a range of programs and activities in small or large groups and/or one-to-one settings. Through the planning process, each person’s interests, strengths, and abilities are explored and programs are developed to meet their specific needs. All planning is focused on independent living, personal wellness, and facilitating smooth transitions into home and community. Day Programs operates weekdays with flexible hours scheduled to meet individual needs. Residential Support Services LMSCL specializes in emergency placements (placements in less than 48 hours on weekdays and 72 hours on weekends and holidays of notice by the funders). The agency also provides regular residential services for children, youth, and adults with various housing needs, including short- and long-term placements. Specialized services are developed to support persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Effects (FAS/E), sensory impairments, dual diagnosis, and persons who may require intensive medical or behavioral support. The homes are committed to helping individuals to achieve stability, acquire independence and to promote healthier functioning. There are fully staffed 24-hour residences for persons requiring intensive daily support. Support varies according to the needs of the individuals in the home and may include personal care, health planning and support and psychiatric and/or behavioral support. Semi Independent/ Transitional Homes are lightly staffed homes available for persons who desire more independence and/or are working toward independent living. They focus on developing independent living skills and building upon existing strengths. All residential services facilitate community inclusion. Residential Support Services are funded by Community Living BC (CLBC) and the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD).
