We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic to join our maintenance team and support our complex spring-forming production systems. Job Duties The Industrial Mechanic will be responsible for the following tasks: • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including coil winding machines, leaf spring presses, and heat treatment equipment. • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic components in high-pressure forming and tempering systems. • Use welding, machining, and hand tools to fabricate or modify parts and fixtures required for spring forming operations. • Diagnose breakdowns and malfunctions in PLC-controlled machinery used in coiling, forming, and flattening operations. • Interpret technical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and manuals to perform installations, repairs, and upgrades. • Maintain maintenance records and logs using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and spreadsheets. • Ensure safety compliance during maintenance activities, including proper lockout/tagout procedures. • Support machine calibration and adjustments for various coil and spring sizes and profiles. • Research potential machinery upgrades and evaluate new equipment options for productivity improvements. • Liaise with equipment vendors, gather technical specifications, and perform quotation analysis. • Conduct return-on-investment (ROI) calculations and cost-benefit analysis to assist in capital purchasing decisions. • Recommend technical improvements to management based on equipment performance and feasibility. • Prepare and manage routine maintenance schedules and task plans for all production machinery. • Coordinate maintenance tasks with production staff to minimize operational downtime. • Assign tasks, estimate resources needed, and track completion of both maintenance and production-related activities. • Monitor parts inventory, usage, and initiate replenishment for critical spares. Employment Requirements • Completion of secondary school is required. • Completion of a 4-year industrial mechanic apprenticeship program OR a combination of several years of work experience in the trade and related college, technical, or university courses is usually required. • Experience working with coil and leaf spring forming equipment, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled machinery is an asset. • Knowledge of safety regulations, CMMS or ERP maintenance software, and mechanical troubleshooting is essential.
